Nada Surf Announces New Album Release Date and Track List

Nada Suf is heading out on the road soon, and if you get to see them, you'll also be able to pick up their new record, if I had a hi-fi, a super cool record of covers, before everyone else.

Today the Surf announced the commercial release date for hi-fi (June 8th), which will be available on CD, digital, and vinyl. They also announced the rather eclectic track list, which consists of songs from 60s prog rockers The Moody Blues, to the Spanish band Mercromina, to modern synth rockers Depeche Mode. "The material came together spontaneously," said lead singer/guitarist Matthew Caws, "We'd get together and kick ideas around and soon we had an A list, a B list, a C list.... ." The record also includes guest musicians like Martin Wenk (Calexico), Phil Peterson (Kay Kay and the Weathered Underground), Joe McGinty (Losers Lounge, Psychedelic Furs) and Holly Miranda.

The Surf are doing spring tour dates, starting 3/25 in NYC and ending at the 2010 Sasquatch Festival in late May. SXSW starts 3/17, here's hoping Caws and company decide to stop by and plug in somewhere...
